Metro DC DSA's Inauguration Weekend of Action

Hi comrade,

As we face the looming threat of another Trump administration, join MDC DSA and comrades from around the country over the course of three days to show out in force to protest. Tens of thousands of working people are expected to turn out in solidarity and resistance to send a message to the incoming Trump administration that the working class will fight attacks on bodily autonomy, the environment, immigrants, labor unions, tenants, and more.

📣 Saturday, 1/18: Join us at The People’s March from 10-3pm. From 10-11, the DSA contingent will meet at Farragut Square, joining Rising Majority, Center for Popular Democracy, Adalah Justice Project, and other organizations for a kickoff focused on antimilitarism, democracy, immigration, and labor, before marching to the main rally together. MAKE SURE YOU RSVP HERE to stay up to date with any last minute changes and to find the DSA contingent.

📣 Sunday, 1/19: Join DSA and Movement Infrastructure Project from 2-5:30pm for The Road Ahead: Organizing Through a Second Trump Term. Join us in Petworth for this event between the marches on the 18th and 20th, for a discussion, workshops, and social about how we meet this moment and organize through the next Trump administration. If you’re a new member, this is a great way to get involved with longer term organizing, and if you’re not, it’s a great opportunity to get to know people coming into the chapter and talk to them about your campaign! MAKE SURE YOU RSVP HERE to receive location information.

📣 Monday, 1/20: Join us at We Fight Back at 11am. On Inauguration Day itself, we’ll meet and rally at Malcolm X Park before the march. Join us to show that we’re ready to protect our communities even as Trump is inaugurated. MAKE SURE YOU RSVP HERE to stay up to date with any last minute changes and to find the DSA contingent.

Make sure to RSVP to each event to receive more logistics information and join day-of Signal chats!

🦺 Make sure to practice good protest safety. While these are low-risk actions with protests, and we don’t anticipate arrests, we want to make sure members have as many safety precautions as possible. We will primarily be communicating over the texting app Signal, so install Signal now if you don’t already have it. And fill out this protest form to connect with other protestors or play a role in keeping people safe even if you’re not protesting.

🛏️ Also - volunteer to host a comrade! DSA members will be coming in from out of town, and hotels and Airbnbs are really expensive. If you have any extra space - whether a bed, a couch, or an air mattress - please let us know by filling out the form here. Anyone who gets matched is a verified DSA member.

If you have any questions, please feel free to post in #steering in the chapter slack or email steering at [email protected].
