A Story of Strength: Puerto Rico Prepares to Tackle Summer Hunger
Today
"Aquí tenemos un dicho,'donde come uno, comen
diez', (Here we have a saying, 'where one eats, ten can
eat')," said Mari Jo Laborde, president and CEO of Banco
de Alimentos, the only food bank of Puerto Rico. She goes on to share
stories about how her neighbors came together in the aftermath of
Hurricane Maria to take care of and feed each other. Their resilience
knows no bounds. With the help of No Kid Hungry, her community
continues to prepare for summer hunger and the rest of the year!

Michael and Kwini Reed are the powerhouse couple behind two
Californian restaurants and a catering business called Root of All
Food they are heavily involved in supporting No Kid Hungry's
fundraising events, including LA's Taste of the Nation and
LA's No Kid Hungry Dinner. As Kwini said, "if you are in
the food industry, you should constantly and actively be trying to
figure out how to fix this problem of hunger... we should always
start with children."
