Ohio Governor Mike DeWine Week in Review

On *Sunday, *Ohio Governor Mike DeWine spoke with Fox News' Bill Hemmer [ [link removed] ] about his proposals to reduce gun violence and increase mental health treatment.

On *Monday*, Lt. Governor Jon Husted cut the ribbon [ [link removed] ] on the new Mitchell Hall on the campus of Columbus State Community College. The new facility, named for Central Ohio restaurateur Cameron Mitchell, will house the schools Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts school, which has consistently been ranked among the best in the state and nation.

On *Wednesday*, GovernorDeWine announced he will lead a business development mission to Japan [ [link removed] ] in September.Japan is Ohios top international investor, with more than 72,860 Ohioans employed at 852 different Japan-owned establishments across the state. Japan also was Ohios fifth largest export market for Ohio products in 2018, when Ohio firms exported more than $1.67 billion worth of products to Japan.
On *Thursday*, Lt. Governor Jon Husted attended the ribbon-cutting [ [link removed] ] for the new Macys Backstage Distribution Center in Central Ohio. The facility will create 410 permanent jobs, which will swell to approximately 1,000 during the holiday season and support over $13.5 million in payroll. Macys Backstage facilities essentially serve as outlet stores for the overall Macys brand.

On *Friday,*Governor DeWine spoke with members of Expo 2050, a group he formed [ [link removed] ] todevelop and recommend a long-term vision for the Ohio Expo Center, an event venue in Columbus that is home to the Ohio State Fair, as well as nearby attractions including the Ohio History Connection and the current Mapfre Stadium.

Also on *Friday,*Governor DeWine authorized the use of the State Disaster Relief Program (SDRP) to help communities impacted by several severe weather incidents between April and July of this year.The SDRP is a reimbursement program that can be used in instances where storm damage amounts do not meet the threshold for federal assistance. The program is intended to provide supplemental state assistance to local governments and eligible non-profit organizations for costs associated with debris removal, emergency protective measures, and permanent work.
