Dear John, Welcome to the inaugural Protect Prosperity newsletter, your weekly deep dive off the fiscal cliff! My name is Joe Eule, and I’ll be your guide as we navigate the turbulent political and policy waters of 2025. We’ll let you in on key insights you won’t get from the mainstream media and provide analysis and perspectives you won’t find anywhere else — in a fun and engaging way. Because I want this to be a conversation and not a lecture, I’ll regularly solicit from you questions you would like answered and topics you want us to cover. A little about me: I spent over two decades working in the U.S. Congress, serving as chief of staff to three conservative GOP members and running a half-dozen congressional campaigns. I also spent seven years working at the Pentagon, which gave me an appreciation for how the executive branch works and how it sees things differently from Congress. One thing I’ve learned during my time in the political arena is that while you may think you have things figured out, events in Washington, D.C. are rarely predictable or straightforward — and they’re always more complicated than they seem. With that out of the way … This newsletter is about navigating the fiscal cliff. What’s the fiscal cliff, you ask? It refers to several deadlines coming up in 2025 that will have a HUGE impact on taxes, federal spending, health care, the debt, and more. Learn more about the fiscal cliff here. At the top of that list: Key provisions of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act — also known as the Trump tax cuts — expire at the end of THIS year. At the end of the day: If Congress doesn’t extend these tax cuts by the end of the year, the average family of four could see a $1,500 yearly tax hike. That’s right. And it adds up to an instant $4 trillion tax increase (over 10 years) on January 1, 2026. Paying higher taxes while Americans are still feeling the inflationary impacts of Bidenomics would add insult to injury. So, yeah, the stakes are high. One thing we know for sure — inaction is not an option. It all adds up to one heck of a year. With GOP control of the White House and Congress, we have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to reduce government overreach and permanently lower taxes. If done right, 2025 could set America on a more prosperous and secure path for generations to come. So, John, in the immortal words of Bette Davis, fasten your seat belts. The year ahead promises to be a bumpy ride, but we’ll be here to smooth things out for you along the way. The fiscal cliff is here, and extending the Trump tax cuts is critical.
