John —
Last month, Becca introduced the Combating Loneliness Act (CLA), sweeping legislation to tackle the loneliness epidemic by supporting community-level work to increase social connection and uplift folks who are struggling.
The growing mental health emergency affects so many of us. Including Becca. And the research is clear: Social support is vital for our emotional and physical health, and when we don’t have it, it damages our communities, civic engagement, and our democracy.
That’s why Becca is proud to have introduced this legislation to address this problem at its root.
The CLA would expand social services like playgrounds, bike lanes, and community gardens to promote social connection. And invest in public health initiatives like youth mental health programs and support for health care workers. These kinds of initiatives can spark real change within our communities.
But we also know the CLA is most effective when it’s implemented alongside legislation like Medicare For All and the Green New Deal. To effectively promote healthier, stronger communities in our schools, hospitals, and across the nation, we need a holistic approach.
This needs our attention, John. Show your support for Becca’s community-focused approach by adding your name as a citizen endorser of the Combating Loneliness Act >>
This is one of many steps we must take to create more connected communities.
Thank you for standing with us,
Team Becca
