When I talk with folks across North Carolina, I love sharing this story, which ultimately played a role in my decision to enter this Senate race:
While my wife Elizabeth and I were rushing to get the kids to school one morning, the news hummed on the TV in the background. All of a sudden, my daughter Caroline — who is passionate about animal welfare — was engrossed as journalists reported yet another federal policy that would put endangered species at risk.
My daughter looked me in the eyes and said: “What are you going to do about it, Dad?!”
I’ve always taught my children that our democracy belongs to them. It’s not a spectator sport — we must be engaged and stand up for our beliefs.
So, to answer Caroline: I’m running for U.S. Senate to give North Carolinians the leadership they deserve. I’m ready to go to Washington to represent the state I love and find solutions for the things that need fixing so that our future generations are better off.
Your support is critical in this mission. John, consider chipping in to our campaign to help us win this election and fix Washington. As we approach our end-of-month deadline, every little bit counts.

At the very beginning of this campaign, I made the decision to refuse to accept a single donation from the corporate PACs calling the shots.
That means contributions from folks like you are the only way we can make this campaign, and our democracy at large, truly powered by the people.
I’m so appreciative of your support. Together, we can tell our kids exactly what we did to save our democracy and fix the mess in Washington.
