FRC is serving as watchmen on the wall for the sake of the unborn.

Dear John,

Over the last month, the dominos of DEI have started to fall, much to the Left's dismay.

In a surprising but welcome turn of events, major corporate giants like McDonalds, Walmart, Meta, Amazon, and others announced that they were dropping their Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) driven policies.

Could this be the return of common sense?

I certainly hope so. But whether these changes signal a greater cultural trend away from Leftism remains to be seen. Regardless, one thing is certain: these corporate actions came as a result of public exposure and pressure from Americans who are tired of being force-fed woke ideology.

But it isn't just DEI policies that big business is being forced to rethink.

On December 12, the pro-life news outlet Live Action News, uncovered something disturbing on America's second-largest grocery chain's website: the abortion pill -- mifepristone.

On Kroger's website, their pharmacy had listed the controversial pill as available for sale and was even offering the dangerous drug at an enormous discount for members of the Kroger Health Savings Club: just $7.

The Washington Stand, FRC's outlet for news and commentary from a biblical worldview, recognized the importance of this discovery and wrote an article to inform our readers.

But then something unexpected happened.

Two days later, communications officials for Kroger emailed a member of our Washington Stand news staff, claiming that Kroger did not carry the drug, and requested a retraction of the story.

When we pointed out that Mifepristone was indeed listed on Kroger's website and described as a drug "used to end pregnancy," Kroger's spokeswoman replied that the site was in error, asserting that they didn't know about its listing on their site until they read the article in The Washington Stand.

By 8 am on the morning of December 17, the listing was expunged from Kroger's website!

While this is a welcome victory, can you imagine what might have happened if nobody had noticed or reported on it? Kroger may have unknowingly contributed to the normalization of other large retailers selling mifepristone, and even worse, if online purchasers were actually able to buy the drug through their website, (a point which thankfully is now moot) unborn lives might have been lost.

Kroger's removal of the abortion agent from their pharmacy website should send a message to Christians across the nation: when we voice our values, we can save lives!

That's why Family Research Council has been sounding the alarm and acting as a voice for the unborn on Capitol Hill and in our culture for over 40 years -- and we have no plans to stop being a voice for the voiceless, for their sake and the sake of our nation.

John, as Americans voice their rejection of woke ideology and anti-life policies, Christians need to armed with truth to fill the void.

Together, we can equip believers to defend the faith and point our country back to the Word of God.

Thankfully, Kroger isn't the only retailer who took down their listing of this unconscionable product. The Washington Stand also reached out to Sam's Club with a request for comment on a similar listing for the abortion pill on their website.

Shortly after Kroger's response, a Sam's Club spokesperson replied that they too had removed mifepristone from their online pharmacy.

Their email stated only that the listing was due to a third-party vendor error. No matter what reason the drug was listed, if it were not for pro-life Christian voices speaking out in boldness, who knows if Sam's Club could have accidentally sold this deadly drug, or for how long it may have been offered!

John, we cannot allow retail giants to turn a blind eye to this issue and must continue to hold vendors' proverbial feet to the fire. If huge stores begin testing the cultural waters, Christian voices need to make them think twice.

Kroger and Sam's Club have stated plainly that they do not offer Mifepristone, but other pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, and select Rite Aids are still choosing to dispense this dangerous pill in states where it's legal.

Family Research Council is standing boldly against this deadly agenda by equipping lawmakers with issue briefs and research, and informing believers like you about the latest in the battle to protect life through The Washington Stand, our award-winning daily program, Washington Watch, and our new Stand Firm App.

By partnering with FRC, you can help reach others with the truth and defend innocent life.

STAND FOR LIFE

While we work with eager anticipation of a time when abortion is outlawed in every state and at every level, we must not grow weary of defending life where we can.

As it is written in Proverbs 31:8-9, God calls on Christians to be a voice for the voiceless. "Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute. Open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy."

Thankfully, Christians are making their voices heard.

Pro-life Christians worked for decades to reach a post-Roe America, remaining steadfast in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles and faced with extraordinarily aggressive opposition.

Despite these challenges, we continued faithfully working to defend life because we are motivated by a simple truth: every human life is created in the image of God.

Together, let's seize this cultural moment and not grow weary of fighting to protect life. When we stand on the Word of God and make our voices heard, we can see amazing victories.
