Dear John,
Making polluters pay for climate damages. Preventing future toxic spills of PFAS foam. Protecting Mainers from skyrocketing utility costs. Recognizing Wabanaki self-determination.
These are just some of the priorities of the Environmental Priorities Coalition for the 2025 legislative session. Following record-breaking weather, costly storm damage, and an environmental disaster, Maine needs bold action to meet this moment. Together with our partners in the coalition, we are ready to meet the moment and advance climate action, further environmental justice, protect the environment, and cultivate healthy Maine communities.
The coalition’s united agenda for 2025 will:
-
Make polluters pay for climate damages
- Prevent future toxic spills of PFAS foam
- Protect Mainers from skyrocketing utility costs
-
Reach 100% clean electricity by 2040
- Fund the Land for Maine’s Future program
- Address stormwater pollution
- Improve transportation planning
-
Modernize the comprehensive planning process and policies
- Recognize Wabanaki self-determination

We are starting 2025 in a strong position, with conservation majorities in both chambers and a climate champion in the Blaine House.
But lawmakers will have many competing priorities, and our opponents will be working to stall or derail efforts to tackle climate change and protect the environment. We'll be counting on supporters like you to come together to pass these bills.
