Hi John,
At Action Network, we spend a lot of time thinking, talking, and brainstorming about email deliverability—specifically how we can help you and all our users maintain great deliverability and fix any issues. A big part of this comes down to understanding how to read the signals, like open rates and spam rates, and using those insights to make smart decisions about who you’re emailing and how often. It’s not always clearcut, and it’s certainly not easy.
This winter, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee (DLCC) came up with an idea to make tracking the health of your program a lot smoother: deliverability notifications! And over the summer we designed and built the feature that was deployed this week.
Big thank you to the DLCC, and to everyone out there who’s also thinking, talking and brainstorming around how we can improve email deliverability for our movement.
Deliverability Notifications
Set these up in the email section of your settings tab. We provide suggested thresholds, but you can customize them to fit your needs. Each week, we’ll average your email statistics and notify you if any thresholds are met.
For example, if you track click rate and set the threshold at 1%, we’ll send you an email if your average click rate falls below 1%.
This feature is especially helpful for networks. You can sign up for notifications across multiple groups and even receive alerts about child groups. Huge win for networks!
Additional Updates
- New filter: Highest Previous Contribution (HPC).
- New targetable status for refunded tickets in ticketed events.
- Network improvement: syndicate tags to specific groups instead of all child groups.
- Custom public-facing "Created By" name for actions to honor preferred names.
As with all our new features, these were chosen, brainstormed, and funded by our Development Partners at AFL-CIO, the Canadian Labour Congress, and DLCC. Read more about our cooperative development process here.

PS: Action Network tripled email send speeds and doubled mobile send speeds leading up to the election thanks to an investment from the Harris Campaign. This helped our partners reach more people faster. Thank you, Harris team!
