Faced with the reality of decline and a potential merger, Maplewood UMC, located just outside of St. Louis, discovered new life by shifting their focus outside themselves. The congregation began giving 10% of their offerings to causes outside the church walls. Their collaborative and “say yes” mentality led to the part-time charge becoming a full-time appointment.
