We are less than a month into 2025, yet our country has already seen 9 mass shootings, many of which barely made it to mainstream media coverage over the holidays.
Friend, that's the point we're at in this country – where horrific event after horrific event can occur and not even register on the national stage because we have become so numb to mass violence and destruction at the hands of firearms.
That's why I'm reaching out today.
Because I shouldn't have to keep repeating myself to say that no family should have to go through the grief and loss that families like mine have gone through.
And yet, in West Greenwich, Rhode Island, in New Orleans, Louisiana, in Kankakee, Illinois, and in other cities from coast to coast there are families mourning the deaths of their precious loved ones due to gun violence – while the rest of the country remains silent and goes about their day.
I hope you will join me today in using your voice to say "Not us. We will not let your loss go unseen and we will not let this violence continue to plague our communities. Enough is enough."
Thank you for making your voice heard and not allowing these senseless tragedies to fly under the radar,
Fred Guttenberg
