Egale Canada's 2024 Impact Report: We Couldn’t Have Done It Without You As we reflect on 2024 and look ahead to what’s to come in
2025, it is clear that your support has afforded us the resilience necessary to make positive impacts despite rising levels of anti-2SLGBTQI hate. While we anticipate the trend of rising hate to continue this year, we know that by working together we can make even more progress towards our vision of a Canada, and ultimately a world, without homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and all other forms of oppression so that every person can achieve their full potential, free from hatred and bias.
Thanks to your support, here are some of the milestones we were able to accomplish together, highlighted in Egale’s 2024 Impact Report:
Research: 5 major research reports and literature reviews that have been published, with an ongoing 5 major research projects in 2025 and beyond. Education: 15,200+ individuals accessed the Rainbow Action Hub and its resources to combat anti-2SLGBTQI hate in all provinces and territories, and in 50 other countries. Awareness: 12 awareness campaigns with over 150 resources created
in English and French, and over 24,000 downloads! Legal Advocacy: 7 new legal cases and interventions to fight for the rights and protections of 2SLGBTQI communities across Canada. | | | | Alzheimer's Awareness Month: Supporting 2SLGBTQI Older Adults January is Alzheimer's Awareness Month, an important time to recognize that the Canadian healthcare system often isn’t equipped for 2SLGBTQI individuals who get dementia. Care for 2SLGBTQI older adults is often not inclusive of specific needs. This Alzheimer's Awareness Month, access Egale’s resources to support 2SLGBTQI older adults: | | | | Statement
from Egale Canada: The Government of New Brunswick’s Changes to Policy 713 All students deserve to feel included at school and to learn in an environment that is affirming and safe. For over a year, this was not the case for 2SLGBTQI students in New Brunswick. Egale Canada is pleased to see that the Government of New Brunswick has reversed the most harmful elements of the changes to Policy 713.
We encourage the government to continue to listen to and work with 2SLGBTQI communities to ensure that the policy moving forward will foster the most inclusive school environments possible.
