Hello John,
Let me start off by saying Donald Trump’s border czar is a complete and unhinged lunatic. His name is Tom Homan, and, well, let’s just say he’s not the nicest guy in the world. What Tom also seems to completely disregard are two things: our country’s laws and the current economic conditions we are in. Even if Trump and MAGA wanted to come in and kick out every brown person they see—let’s face it, that’s the ultimate goal—they can’t. Business in America would come to a complete halt. I’m not just talking about service jobs; I’m talking about all jobs. All sectors of the economy heavily rely on immigrant labor.
This border czar, Tom Homan, seems to get a thrill by going on national cable networks and making threats to communities of color. So, we tell him, “Bring it on.” We are not afraid of you. We have the law and the American people on our side. One thing we must ensure is that we are screaming at the top of our lungs to anyone who will listen: there is no Trump or MAGA mandate. He won the election fair and square, but he didn’t win the overwhelming majority he keeps bragging about and lying about. In fact, he practically received the same number of votes that he did when he lost in 2020. I’m not going to get into why he won and where our voters went in this email, but I will in future ones, so please stay tuned and stay engaged with us.
But how does this tie into the California fires?
It’s simple. We are going to need a hell of a lot of skilled labor to go in and rebuild entire communities—and do it fast and safely, of course. MAGA is counting on a complete state failure of California. They are rooting for California to fail. Speaker of the House Johnson is threatening to withhold federal resources from California and politically blackmail them. This is all happening in real-time, and the stakes couldn’t be higher. Our team is working tirelessly to ensure that our supporters and our candidates, past and future, have the talking points and messaging they need to convey this to their constituents as well as voters. I will be visiting Southern California next week to meet with folks and get a better grasp of the political climate on the ground. This is not to take away from the colossal humanitarian disaster that is unfolding, but we need to be prepared politically, and it’s my job to do
just that.
All we are looking for is transparency with the public. Backroom deals and shady handshakes that have gone on for too long need to be a thing of the past. We have a lot of work to do on that subject, and we are working on a plan for that as well. I know I have shared a lot of bad news with you today and in my previous messages, but I have some good news to share as well. My phone is starting to ring again with really talented and energetic candidates who want to run for Congress from across the country. I have meetings scheduled, and when I find the really good ones, they will receive our endorsement, and you will be the first to meet them.
Remember, winning a congressional race requires immense effort, time, and resources. On the subject of resources, our capabilities are directly tied to the support we receive from our incredibly loyal grassroots supporters like you. We need that support to show up so that we can continue to advocate for all of us. If you are in a position to do so, please consider a one-time donation or a recurring one to No Dem Left Behind.
In Solidarity,
Hassan Martini
