As President-elect Trump prepares to retake his position in the White House on January 20, I have been working closely with his team and the new House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, Brian Mast, to identify opportunities to put Miami and America first in our foreign policy moving forward.

As the Gateway to the Americas, we in Miami know very well that what happens in Latin America affects us closely at home. As I prepare to Chair the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee on the Foreign Affairs Committee for my second term, I would love to hear from you, my constituents, on what you think I should prioritize most. I am very pleased to announce that House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-FL) has entrusted me to continue serving as Chairwoman of the Western Hemisphere Subcommittee!

Ever since I assumed the position last Congress, I have worked diligently with my staff to ensure Miami and America's interests on the world stage are defended. Over the course of 11 hearings and dozens of letters sent to the Biden Administration, I have consistently advocated for an America First foreign policy that keeps us safe and strong in the world.

I look forward to working with Chairman Mast and President-elect Trump to help them deliver on their America First agenda come January 20th!

GREETING VENEZUELAN PRESIDENT EDMUNDO GONZÁLEZ URRUTIA TO THE U.S. CAPITOL

Last week, I had the distinct honor of welcoming Edmundo González Urrutia, the legitimate President of Venezuela, to my Washington, D.C. office along with my colleagues, incoming National Security Advisor for President Trump Rep. Mike Waltz (R-FL), and Reps. Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL) and Carlos A. Giménez (R-FL).

Since the July 28th presidential election in Venezuela, I have consistently warned the Maduro Regime that any actions taken against Edmundo González or the opposition leader, María Corina Machado, would no longer be met with appeasement under the new Trump Administration like it was under the Biden Administration. I said as much in a statement with House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast (R-FL) last Thursday.

I also joined my colleague, Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL), to reintroduce a bipartisan bill to cut off the oil supply money to the Maduro regime's repressive apparatus.

Nicolás Maduro and his henchmen know that their time is up!
