Indivisibles,

This week, the Senate begins confirmation hearings for Trump’s most
dangerous cabinet nominees. These hearings are our first and best chance
to stop unqualified extremists from assuming roles that will touch every
aspect of our lives.

While Trump has nominated 54 individuals, [ [link removed] ]we’re zeroing in on four
nominees whose appointments would have catastrophic consequences. These
aren’t just bad picks -- they’re calculated moves to advance a MAGA agenda
of extremism, disinformation, and dismantling democracy:

* Kash Patel, FBI Director -- A Trump loyalist with a history of
undermining justice. Patel’s confirmation would politicize the FBI and
weaponize it against political opponents.
* Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense -- A right-wing propagandist with
no qualifications. His confirmation would endanger national security
and push divisive ideological agendas.
* Russell Vought, OMB Director -- The architect of Project 2025,
designed to dismantle federal programs and concentrate power. His
confirmation would supercharge MAGA authoritarianism.
* RFK Jr., Secretary of Health and Human Services -- A notorious
anti-vaccine conspiracy theorist whose nomination would threaten
public health and safety.

If confirmed, these nominees will shape everything from public health to
national security. Stopping them is critical. The confirmation hearing
(the first step in the process) for Hegseth is Tuesday morning, and
Vought’s is Wednesday afternoon, so this fight starts right now.

[ [link removed] ]Call and email your senators today to demand they block these
unqualified extremists. We also hope you can join us, Public Citizen,
MoveOn, Working Families Party, and others [ [link removed] ]tomorrow at 8 pm ET for a
mass movement call to talk about the fight ahead.

The stakes really couldn’t be higher.

With that, read on for your weekly to-dos:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Your weekly to-dos

 1. [ [link removed] ]Tell your senators to nix the nominees and oppose the cabinet
nominations of sycophants and extremists. Use our new webpage and
call/email tools to contact your senators and demand that they oppose
the nominations of Patel, Hegseth, Vought, and Kennedy -- and any
other MAGA zealot who wants to weaponize federal power and push their
radical agenda.
 2. [ [link removed] ]Join Indivisible co-founder Leah Greenberg tomorrow, January 14 at
8pm ET/5pm PT on a mass call with partner organizations like Public
Citizen, MoveOn, Working Families Party, and more. During the call,
you’ll learn how the cabinet confirmation hearings work, what's at
stake, and how you can ensure your senators stand firm against the
most egregious nominations.
 3. [ [link removed] ]Brace for Impact with Indivisible’s co-founders every Thursday in
January at 3pm ET/12pm PT. Trump’s inauguration is a week away, and a
new MAGA Congress is now in session. Electeds, corporations, and
mainstream media are already capitulating to Trump’s agenda, but we’re
seeing a wave of new energy from folks who are ready to fight back.
Join Leah and Ezra every Thursday in January for a live discussion and
Q&A session on how to prepare for what’s ahead and what we know about
this new congress.
 4. [ [link removed] ]Join our Help Over Hate Weekend of Service. Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. taught us that injustice anywhere is a threat to justice
everywhere, so this inauguration weekend we’re coming together through
action and solidarity. From January 17-20, Indivisible groups across
the country will unite for this weekend of service by hosting events
designed to empower their community. More info on the Help Over Hate:
Weekend of Service is below!

Help Over Hate: Weekend of Service

As much as we wish it wasn’t happening, the inauguration of Donald Trump
will take place next Monday. As he and his allies prepare to attack our
rights and divide our communities, we’re rising up with action and
solidarity for a Help Over Hate: Weekend of Service.

Serving your community goes beyond personal satisfaction -- it's a vital
way to foster connections and resilience in the face of Trump's
presidency. In-person events are also a fantastic chance to welcome new
and existing members into Indivisible groups. This weekend's events will
aim to make an impact by tackling community needs head-on, whether it's
combating hunger, supporting LGBTQ+ youth, or cleaning up public spaces.
These efforts demonstrate our deep care for our neighbors' well-being and
our commitment to standing united against the challenges ahead.

While MAGA Republicans push their hateful, divisive agenda, we’ll
demonstrate the power of compassion and action. [ [link removed] ]Check out our toolkit,
plan your own Help Over Hate event, and join us this weekend in service to
our communities!

Supporting Victims of the LA Fires

The entire world has watched over the last week as devastating wildfires
have spread across Los Angeles County. As of today, 24 people have lost
their lives, more than 100,000 have been forced to evacuate, and thousands
of homes, businesses, and schools have burned down. This is the most
destructive fire in LA’s recent history and another heartbreaking example
of climate change’s devastating impact.

With the need for support growing every day, this week, we won’t be
including a “donate to Indivisible” message in the newsletter. Instead, we
hope you’ll take those dollars and send them to an organization working on
disaster relief across the LA area. [ [link removed] ]You can check here for a
comprehensive (but not exhaustive) list of organizations working to
provide aid to evacuees and first responders.

And if you live in the LA area and are looking for other ways to support
your neighbors, [ [link removed] ]you can click here for a list of organizations with
volunteer opportunities.
