Pete Hegseth served. We’re grateful he answered the call. We honor that service.

Tomorrow Pete Hegseth will sit in front of the Senate as he is considered for the role of Secretary of Defense, and VoteVets is going to be crystal clear about our position on his nomination:

This guy has absolutely no place — none, zero, nada — commanding the finest Military in the history of mankind. Pete Hegseth is uniquely unqualified to lead the Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Space Force. There is nothing on his resume that indicates he has what it takes to manage the largest and most complex federal agency in the United States — 3.4 million across our Active Duty, Reserves, Guard, and civilian contractors and employees.

It’s almost comical — but it’s so much worse than just that.

Lack of qualification is one thing, but Hegseth seems to want to impose a far-right extremist social engineering agenda on the United States Military. He has openly and publicly said that he wants to exclude women from combat roles after they have served valiantly in those roles for decades. He intends to restrict access to abortion for Active Duty and would do the same for Veterans. The list goes on.

The United States Military is the most effective and strongest fighting force the world has ever known because it harnesses the best people who can do the job from all corners of this nation. It doesn’t matter where your parents are from, who you love, which bathroom you use — the chief qualification is whether you can do the job. And our fighting men and women do the job better than anyone on the face of the earth. Bar none. To change that means you’re making our military weaker.
