John --
I’m home for our district work period, and it is so nice to be back from Washington enjoying the Maine summer. I’ve been able to spend some time with my wife, and have had the opportunity to meet with Mainers from all over our district.
My favorite part of the job is getting to hear from people directly about what I can do to serve them better in Congress. These interactions help inform my decisions back in DC.
But right now, I have to do my least favorite part of the job, and ask you for help.
I hope you’ll consider sending a small contribution to my extremely competitive campaign. Can I count on you to contribute $3 right now and help us raise $1,690 before midnight? >>

I’ll be blunt: I refuse to spend all of time my fundraising.
But, we know that this district is very competitive and expensive. We had to raise over $5 million in 2018 to pull off a victory.
Trust me, I know how absurd it is that elections are so expensive, and it speaks to the severity of the problem with money in politics. It’s one of the reasons I was so proud to vote to pass the For The People Act, which will help reform our elections, shine a light on dark money, and cut down on corruption.
But let me tell you something I DO admire about our fundraising: We’re entirely funded by real people -- I don’t take ANY money from corporate PACs.
I’m not going to run this campaign any other way. I refuse to do backroom deals with corporations just to get them to write me a check -- not a chance that’s going to happen.
But that makes emails like this so much more important to sustaining our campaign operations. We need grassroots supporters and donors on our team to help us keep this seat.
So, I’ll ask again: Please John, will you contribute $3 or more and help us raise $1,690 before the day ends? >>
