Dear John,
Recent events have shown that the Mujahedin-e Khalq (MEK) is ramping up its efforts to influence the incoming Trump Administration to impose "maximum pressure" policies to punish ordinary Iranians and ensure war, not diplomacy, is America's official policy towards Iran. Keith Kellogg, Trump's incoming Ukraine and Russia envoy, just joined former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at an event in Paris to promote the MEK as the next rulers of Iran and to call for "maximum pressure" to accomplish that goal. 1 [[link removed]]
The MEK was previously considered a terrorist organization by the U.S. because it has killed Iranians and Americans and engages in cult-like behavior that includes human rights violations against its own members. 2 [[link removed]] Iranians widely revile MEK because it fought alongside Saddam Hussein against Iranians. 3 [[link removed]]
However, the group is influential because it advances the pro-war agenda favored by many in Washington and because it has the ability to pay huge sums to political figures. 4 [[link removed]] Trump's Former Vice President Mike Pence reportedly accepted $190,000 for speaking to the group, while Trump's former National Security Advisor John Bolton received at least $180,000 for similar engagements. 5 [[link removed]] 6 [[link removed]] This blatant influence-peddling threatens to push the U.S. and Iran closer to an avoidable, catastrophic war.
We believe there is a chance for diplomacy to avert war when Trump re-enters the White House. But many, including groups like the MEK, will be pushing nonstop to take diplomacy off the table, punish ordinary Iranians, and make war the only option.
NIAC is working tirelessly to counter the MEK and the many other war lobbies in Washington to instead advance a diplomacy-first approach that values civilian lives in Iran. But we need your support to amplify our voice in Washington.

Your contribution will help us:
* Educate policymakers about the true nature of the MEK
* Advocate for policies that prioritize American security and improve lives in Iran
* Counter the propaganda of groups pushing for conflict
The stakes are too high to let groups like the MEK steer us toward another disastrous war in the Middle East. We can ensure that voices of reason and peace prevail with your support.
Thank you for standing with us in this crucial fight.
Best regards,
Jamal Abdi NIAC President[[link removed]]
