Friends, there's not a lot of time, so I'll get right to it: Without emergency funding now, the Postal Service could shut down in just weeks. But President Trump is refusing to lift a finger to help.

A bankrupt USPS would be catastrophic. That's 600,000 people who could be out of work, including nearly 100,000 veterans – and with the unprecedented unemployment rates during this public health crisis, that number is bad enough. But that terrible figure doesn't include the millions of rural Americans for whom the USPS is a vital lifeline, the seniors who receive their Social Security payments in the mail and everyone else who relies on the USPS for packages, prescriptions and essential items. 

The damage this would do to our country is almost immeasurable. And with millions more Americans depending on the USPS so they can vote safely by mail in this year's elections, I want to be very clear: Letting the USPS collapse is an attack on democracy. 

We need to keep the pressure on the president to act – that's why I'm urgently looking for 78 more people to sign on to this petition before it's too late. Please, friends, add your name now to DEMAND President Trump take action to fund the Postal Service and preserve the jobs and essential services it performs.

During a global pandemic, it is unconscionable to ask Americans to risk their health in order to exercise their constitutional right to vote. But right now, with the fabric of our nation in jeopardy, the president is still calling the Postal Service a "joke" and refusing to do his duty to support the USPS.  

That's why we have to raise our voices together, friends: Every American who wants to vote should be able to vote, and that means we need expanded vote-by-mail and a strong Postal Service right now. With only weeks left before the USPS could shut down, I really need to hear from you. Add your name before midnight tonight to demand President Trump fund the Postal Service now!
