The George W. Bush Institute is committed to offering Americans sound policy recommendations on a range of domestic and global priorities that will pave the way to a brighter future.
As we prepare for President Donald J. Trump’s inauguration, we have outlined a series of policy briefs for his new administration and the newly convened 119th Congress which reflect the values that guide the Bush Institute’s work: freedom, opportunity, accountability, and compassion.
The recommendations include insights on fixing our broken immigration system, making sure our students and veterans have the tools they need to succeed in their next stages in life, and tackling rising U.S. housing prices. We discuss how to do the right thing in Ukraine, develop a sound international trade policy, and enhance engagement in both the Western Hemisphere and Africa. We also outline how to use economic statecraft to impose effective costs against U.S. adversaries and how to combat the rising axis of China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea.
At the same time, we urge Congress and the Trump Administration to recommit to the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), a program that has saved about 26 million lives and prevented 7.8 million babies from contracting HIV/AIDS in the past 22 years.
We hope that these ideas will help our nation and our world ensure opportunity for all, strengthen our democracy, and advance free societies.
Sincerely,
