Email from Rep. Van Duyne I hope you were able to stay warm during the bitter winter weather we experienced.   Washington, D.C. - I hope you were able to stay warm during the bitter winter weather we experienced. Our office compiled a list of resources to help North Texans stay safe, which you can access here. I was honored to take the oath of office for the 119th Congress and continue representing our North Texas community. My Republican colleagues and I wasted no time and spent Saturday in policy discussions. Last Monday, I voted to certify the election of President Donald J. Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. I'm looking forward to partnering with the new administration to advance a strong America First agenda that uplifts our working families and job creators. Georgia nursing student Laken Hope Riley should have celebrated her 23rd birthday on Friday. Instead, she was brutally murdered by an illegal alien last year. On Tuesday, I helped pass the Laken Riley Act to protect our communities from criminal aliens like Laken’s killer, who should not have been free to roam our country. Throughout the week, I helped lead several meetings to build consensus for proposals that will cut taxes for North Texans and small businesses. Click HERE or on the image below to learn more about my efforts to renew the 2017 Trump Tax Cuts. I headed to the House floor Thursday to support the Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act which will sanction the illegitimate International Criminal Court for attempting to punish our dear ally Israel as they defend their country from terrorists. I also introduced two bills, the Valor Earned Not Stolen Act and the Border Wall Waste Accountability Act: The Valor Earned Not Stolen Act will increase the punishment for individuals who falsely claim to have earned military accommodations with the intent to obtain government funding or benefits. The Border Wall Waste Accountability Act will identify the cost to taxpayers of this administration’s decision to waste previously purchased construction materials intended for building the border wall. Friday morning, our D.C. office said farewell to one of our interns, Arthur from Fort Worth. As the son of refugees from the Soviet Union, he has a deep appreciation for the American Dream and has done a great job of serving our North Texas community. Our Second Amendment rights shouldn’t end when we travel from one state to another, which is why I helped introduce the Constitutional Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act to allow concealed carry permits to be recognized across state lines. Texas-24 Work of the Week I cosponsored the Laken Riley Act, which was passed by the House and is already progressing in the Senate, to protect Americans from criminal illegal aliens like Laken’s killer. Texas-24 Hometown Hero Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Communities in Schools of the Dallas Region for their work last year to provide 10,000 North Texas students with coats, hats, hygiene products, and other essentials.
