We need your help over the next few months. No images? Click here ![]() ![]() It'ukdi wigwa! Qngi mait'a? (Good day. How are you?) Today the Washington State Legislature opens its’ 2025 session. I pondered that as I took a nice, deep centering breath this morning and asked Creator to help me summon the energy that I need for another legislative session. We are about to start a whole new chapter. That gives me hope. It reminds me of the power we have together to create a better future. We have already accomplished so much. We fought for years to pass the Climate Commitment Act (CCA), our state’s transformative carbon pricing law. Then, last year cynical forces tried to repeal that law with Initiative 2117. We brought together more than 500 organizations and leaders from across the state to defend climate progress. And we won, decisively defeating I-2117 with 62% of voters in urban, rural, suburban, and tribal, communities statewide supporting the climate law! We have the wind at our backs in Washington. Even with a Trump administration, our progress here is durable. We have a vibrant and growing green economy. We have popular and legislative support. We have organization. We have a vision that includes economic, racial and environmental justice. Of course, we will have lots of work to do to resist Trump’s chaos and his meddling in our state’s affairs. But together, for decades, we’ve been building toward a state that protects people and nature as one. Trump will not be able to tear down what we’ve created. He will not keep us from creating more progress. Let that hold us through these next four years! This year, we’re focusing on four Environmental Priorities Coalition legislative priorities to maintain our momentum:
