Happy New Year John,
I hope you’ve had a restful and reflective holiday period. As we kick off 2025 and the next big phase of our work begins, I have an important ask for you.
The coming months are going to be crucial for Open Britain and our friends in the democracy sector. We’re ramping up to launch a major communications effort, to expand our important work in Parliament, and to build a movement that can put pressure on Keir Starmer to finally take action.
We’ve never been closer to achieving the goals of the APPG for Fair Elections: A National Commission for Electoral Reform. Fixing broken campaign laws. Addressing the widespread and harmful disinformation that’s eroding public debate. This year, we have the opportunity to finally restore trust in our political system.
But we’re a small, lean organisation, and we rely on grassroots donations. That style of fundraising has its benefits – it keeps us independent. We’re accountable only to our large network of supporters, and never beholden to the whims of powerful benefactors. While we’ve been able to make great use of your generous support so far, we rely on this community to continue bolstering our efforts and building on this momentum.
To mark the beginning of this new era in politics, we’re asking all of our supporters if they can spare a one-off £20.25 to help us not just stay afloat this year, but to thrive. Your donations pay for additional design and communications staff, for additional Parliamentary outreach, for events with MPs and digital campaigns that all push us closer towards those fundamental goals. Can you spare £20.25?
