Email from OCPAC Christ & the Death of a President Published Monday, January 15, 2025 THIS WEDNESDAY DR. JONATHAN ASHBACH Jonathan Ashbach is author of the book, Winning the Crowd, a study on the way in which the American film industry has impacted not only American values and beliefs, but has also altered the way Americans behave and vote. Dr. Ashbach edited this important work which includes the focused study of ten authors who analyze film series such as Pixar’s Incredibles, the political messages they carry, and the profound ways in which an evening’s entertainment for the children goes far beyond amusement and cuts deeply into the fabric of the nation. Dr. Ashbach will address the current state of the GOP as we anticipate the coming inauguration. He will address the impact of the media on the conservative currents which have begun to define the Republican voter as we look forward to the 2028 presidential elections. Bring a friend!!! BOB LINN Christ & the Funeral of an American President Nothing on the national stage so demonstrated the ideological chasm present in America’s cultural landscape as did the state funeral of the 39th U.S. President, James Earl Carter Jr. Carter is noted as the most outspoken of all U.S. Presidents about his personal faith and what Christ meant to him. Seated on the front row was the representative of President Carter’s political party in last year’s race for the White House, Kamala Harris. Her stern rebuke of two young people in her campaign rally who said, “Jesus is Lord” came to mind as I watched with moments of awe more than an hour of Scripture being read, Christ-centered hymns being sung and prayers asking for the Kingdom of God to descend upon the earth. All this inside the Washington National Cathedral at the official state funeral for a fallen U.S. President. Present were dignitaries from around the world, five U.S. Presidents, members of the U.S Congress, and members of the U.S. Supreme Court. They came to honor a President at a state funeral and heard Biblical Christ-centered liturgy from start to finish. Even Atlanta’s noted leftist political figure, former U.S. Ambassador Andrew Young, quoted at length from Paul’s letters to the church in Rome and in Ephesus, as well as from John’s letter to the famed seven churches in Revelation. The closing of the service in Washington’s National Cathedral was marked by the Lord’s prayer, said by all in unison. In so doing, these national and international leaders asked for the Kingdom of Christ to manifest upon the earth. They confessed that to God belongs the kingdom, the power, and the glory for ever and ever. Amen. These world’s leaders responded “Hear us, Lord” after each Christ-centered confession was voiced from President Carter’s personal pastor, Anthony Lowden. They asked God to remember that Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, confessed that he raised Lazarus from the dead, and remembered Christ’s promise to the believing thief on the cross of eternal paradise. The close could not have been a more powerful testimony to the fact that Jesus is Lord over Washington D.C. and the nation, as these world leaders joined in signing the closing hymn, “All Hail the Power of Jesus Name!” You may find the complete order of service here. Watch the service here. Presidents are seated at the 1 hour 6 minute mark. Congregation sings All Hail the Power of Jesus Name at the 3 Hour 20 Minute Mark. _____________________ The funeral of President Carter caused me to reflect on its extreme contrast against the secularism of our children's classrooms. There is a chasm separating the heart and soul of America from America’s children. With the aid of the U.S. Department of Education, America’s youth sit in classrooms where Christ is never honored or spoken of and the Christianity of our founders and Presidents is never mentioned. Ironically, the U.S. Department of Education was founded by James Earl Carter himself, in exchange for the endorsement of the National Teacher’s Association in his campaign for President. The American classroom was once a place of Bible study, moral instruction, and focused academia until . . . well . . . until it wasn’t! Now, in tandem with the U. S. Department of Education and the National Teachers Union, our children are focused on racial division, sexual promiscuity, and leftist ideology. All in sharp contrast to last Thursday’s state-sponsored funeral of the nation’s most recently fallen chief executive, James Earl Carter, Jr. Children trained in atheism could not come close to appreciating much of anything that they would have heard in the Washington National Cathedral. In fact, showing the full service in the American classroom would probably not be allowed in most school districts. Every schoolboy and every schoolgirl in America should watch it and the be provided with a Bible in order that they might understand what took place in Washington last Thursday, but also what took place more than 200 years ago to make Thursday’s event possible. I’d love to get letters from school districts all across America letting me know that they made the showing a school-wide event and letting me know how wrong I am! History has no coincidences. Only divinely ordained trajectories. Join us this Wednesday as we have a lot of fun and also celebrate the birth of the King. SEE US THIS WEDNESDAY FOR OUR SEASON OPENER!
