Email from Rep. Gonzales Certifying President Trump's Victory Rain, shine, or snow—it’s my honor to represent Texas' 23rd District in Congress! This week, I voted to certify President Trump’s landslide victory. On the Go in Del Rio It was a busy Friday in Del Rio! I started the day by meeting with Val Verde County Judge Lewis Owens. I thanked him for his partnership in pushing for structural repairs to the Amistad Dam in Del Rio. For years, my constituents have raised concerns about the dam's poor condition and the need for structural repairs. It’s been a fight, but federal funds will soon be underway to make this happen. This will go a long way toward ensuring public safety and water management in Del Rio. More to come soon! After meeting with Judge Owens, I joined a productive roundtable with Del Rio Mayor Al Arreola and community leaders. I will always strive to have strong partnerships at all levels of government. Working together is how we get results. Val Verde County is at the front line of the drug and human trafficking crises at the border. Friday afternoon, I met with District Attorney Suzanne West to discuss how we can work together to enhance public safety and address the drug crisis in our communities. I also visited the Del Rio port of entry where CBP officials updated me on their border security efforts and work to facilitate international trade. In Congress, I’ll continue working to deliver solutions to secure the border and support our hardworking CBP personnel. I then met with a few of our Border Patrol Agents in Del Rio for an update on their operations and, more importantly, to let them know I have their back. For the past four years, our Border Patrol Agents have lived through an absolute nightmare. And yet, despite the Biden admin’s terrible policies, they have gritted their teeth and gone to work. Change is finally coming. Working to Keep Americans Safe The barbarian who murdered Laken Riley should NEVER have been allowed into our country. This week, I voted in favor of the Laken Riley Act to deport criminal illegal aliens and keep Americans safe. RESULTS: The Social Security Fairness Act On Monday, President Biden signed the Social Security Fairness Act into law. This bill will ensure law enforcement, teachers, and other public employees receive the benefits they deserve. I proudly cosponsored this legislation and I am glad that the benefits many Texans have earned will be rightfully received. Follow @RepTonyGonzales on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
