TODAY'S NEWSLETTER HAD A BAD LINK FOR THE BUS TRIP DEPARTING FROM FRISCO & WAXAHACHIE! THE LINK BELOW HAS BEEN CORRECTED. COME TO THE CAPITOL WITH US!
Hello, True Texans!
On Friday night when Meg Basham called me to say her flight was cancelled, we pivoted. After scrambling to adjust for the later flight she was taking instead, which included rescheduling the venue, the AV tech, the photographer, the entire studio team who does the podcast we had planned for afterwards, the event planner, and our TTP team, she called again to say her second flight was cancelled.
Ugh! The best laid plans...
But you know what? I could only assume God had a bigger plan and that this would end up a blessing in disguise. Meg agreed. And guess what... Fran and I have heard from MANY of you that they are so glad we're rescheduling because now maybe they can attend. Woohoo! We want the message to get out to as many as possible, so that's fantastic. I hope to be able to send out an email on Monday with the new date, so watch for that. We will open ticket sales back up too!
What A Mess...
We need your help. When we were so rapidly growing a couple years back, opening new satellite locations every month, we were having to figure out on the fly how to manage our database. Who should get what messages??? Texas is a big state, and those in Lubbock may not care about news for Beaumont, you know? Initially all contacts went in one pot. Then we tried to divvy it up so that some messages could go statewide while others could be sent to specific geographic areas. That was for both email and text. Texting was a bit messier, and in order to segment into various locations, it required YOU to reply "STOP" to the regions you didn't want.
Well guess what... for some of you, when you replied "STOP," it unsubscribed you to ALL of our messages, not just the area you didn't need. But now if I go back in and try to reassign you, the system doesn't let me because the government regulates spam messaging.
There's only one fix.You have to sign yourself back up. Please use the chart below to take care of that.
Text "beaumont" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Beaumont Area satellite.
Text "bexar" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Bexar County satellite.
Text "brazos" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Brazos Valley satellite.
Text "callahan" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts in Callahan County.
Text "collin" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Collin County satellite.
Text "cross timbers" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Cross Timbers region satellite (Granbury area).
Text "dallas" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Dallas County satellite.
Text "denton" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Denton County satellite.
Text "dfwsouth" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for Johnson & Ellis Counties.
Text "grayson" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for Grayson County.
Text "harris" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for any of the Harris County satellites (NW Harris, Katy Area, Bay Area).
Text "hill country" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Hill Country satellite (Austin area).
Text "longview" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Longview Area satellite.
Text "lubbock" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Lubbock County satellite.
Text "parker" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for Parker County.
Text "rgv" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Rio Grande Valley satellite.
Text "rwk" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Rockwall/Kaufman Counties satellite.
Text "tarrant" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Tarrant County satellite.
Text "williamson" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for the text alerts for the Williamson County satellite.
Not seeing your area? Text "true" to 866-621-3122 to sign up for general text alerts from TTP.
When you sign up for texts from a satellite location, it will automatically sign you up for any statewide messages we send. And if you live in the DFW area, it will also automatically sign you up for metroplex messaging.
If you ever want to be removed from a list, you have to reply "STOP _____" where you fill in the name of the specific list you want to stop. For example, "STOP TARRANT" would keep you on the statewide list and any other areas you subscribed to, yet remove you from the Tarrant County list only. Some of you are on every list for every county, and you might want to change that! If you reply simply "STOP" you'll be unsubscribed from all lists.
Thanks for helping us with these growing pains!
Special Podcast Episode!
Have you been following all the shenanigans over the race for Texas Speaker of the House? Just when you think the RINO State Reps couldn't get any more ridiculous, someone pulls some new stunt. This past week, State Rep Cody Harris (Corsicana area) - a REPUBLICAN - filed a charge with the Texas Ethics Commission against our REPUBLICAN State Chair Abraham George. The punishment if convicted? 10s of 1000s of dollars in expenses, fines, and fees, and two years in prison! Why? Abraham must have done something horrible, right?Wrong. Abraham, as State Chairman of the GOP, contacted State Reps, including Cody, and said that they were expected to follow the Republican Caucus rules for the Speaker Race, and if they do not, they may face a challenger.
Since when is holding elected officials accountable a crime??? The podcast will release Monday and you can hear all about it. In the meantime, I've been fielding calls left and right from folks wondering who we will run against Cody Harris. Boy, he really stepped in it! Oh, and trust me... I've already got two good challengers I've personally been talking to, and I know others have been as well.
Politics is better than any sports game, don't ya think?!? I'll send out an email on Monday with the new podcast link. This means you're watching for TWO things: the rescheduled Basham event, and the new podcast. So much going on!
