News, Information and Resources for the Public: Emergency & Recovery

todays overview

There are currently four active wildfires burning in Los Angeles County, driven by extreme winds and weather conditions. Nearly 40,000 acres have burned and it's estimated that more than 12,000 structures have been damaged or destroyed. At least 16 people have lost their lives and searches are continuing.

*WEATHER OUTLOOK*: Critical fire weather conditions will continue through the middle of next week with little relief. Red Flag Warnings are now in effect for portions of Los Angeles and Ventura counties and these warnings continue to bring life-threatening, destructive, and widespread winds that can result in downed trees, power outages, and high risk for large fires with very rapid spread, extreme behavior, and long-range spotting.
