John,
Given Trump’s troubling ties to authoritarian leaders like Russian President Vladimir Putin and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, it’s reasonable to ask: Who is providing the dark money to fund the lavish Trump inauguration plans?
The American people deserve transparency, yet Donald Trump continues to keep his list of inauguration donors secret.
Inauguration funds, tracked separately from campaign funds, are especially vulnerable to abuse, providing opportunities for foreign or special interests to buy invisible influence and manipulate policy priorities to suit their own ends. Secretive, extravagant donations erode public trust in our democracy and undermine its integrity.
While high-profile contributors like Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, and Sam Altman have publicly pledged substantial sums, past inaugurations have cost upwards of $100 million. So where is the rest of the money coming from? Alarmingly, Trump has refused to disclose the full list of donors, leaving critical questions about transparency unanswered.
Congress must act now. Urge the House Oversight Committee to investigate Trump’s inauguration funding and release a detailed report on his donors.
Unchecked secrecy sets a dangerous precedent, enabling future administrations to hide corrupt dealings that foster influence-peddling. But we have an opportunity to demand the accountability and transparency that our democracy depends on.
With a whole host of new progressive leaders like Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Tlaib, Greg Casar, Maxwell Frost, Ro Khanna, and Summer Lee serving on the House Oversight Committee, we must press them to make uncovering the truth about Trump’s inauguration funding a top priority.
The House Oversight Committee has both the authority and responsibility to investigate and disclose the individuals and organizations behind Donald Trump’s inauguration fund. Such transparency is essential to safeguarding our democratic values.
Join the fight for accountability. Call on House Oversight to investigate Trump’s inauguration fund today!
Thank you for standing up for transparency and the future of our democracy!
