- The murder rate fell at the fastest rate ever recorded in history last year.
- Experts give credit to the 2022 bipartisan gun safety bill that poured $750 million into essential programs to address gun violence in our communities.
This is an important step in the right direction. Still, we have to be honest about what we’re up against in protecting our progress. Because the United States has more guns per capita than any other country on Earth and regulation is difficult.
We’re also heading into a GOP trifecta in the federal government. And we all know the Republicans will side with the gun lobby over the lives of innocent people, just like they have time and time again. So the gun reforms that are leading to lower rates of gun violence could very well be rolled back over the next couple of years.
