Team,
In November, voters in Ohio had the chance to create a citizen-led redistricting commission and remove politicians from the redistricting process altogether.
But partisan forces did everything they could to sabotage the ballot initiative, running millions of dollars of misleading advertising — and it worked. Issue 1 was defeated at the polls. Now, team, we’re gearing up for a redraw of Ohio’s congressional map later this year. That’s because the current map was passed along party lines and expires before the next census cycle.
We’ve seen how shameless some Ohio politicians can be in the pursuit of power — it’s going to take everything we’ve got to stop map manipulators from stealing House seats through another partisan gerrymander.

This redraw could have big implications not only for Ohio but also for the nation at large.
We've seen legislative majorities in other states use mid-decade redraws to pass egregiously gerrymandered maps that are designed to flip House seats.
Anti-democracy politicians will keep pursuing map manipulation in order to win unearned power — and without our work, they will succeed.
If you believe that voters should choose their representatives — and not the other way around — chip in to help protect our maps from gerrymandering and restore fairness to our democracy. → [link removed]
Thank you so much. We’ll keep you posted on the latest from Ohio.
