Survival Sunday: January 12, 2025

Happy weekend, friends!

Survival Sunday is a personal note and update for folks who are interested in being prepared. This message is only available to email and Patreon subscribers.

Have a great week ahead!

Daisy

A PERSONAL NOTE

??

My daughter has a theory and I've adopted it, too. She says, "If it's going to be this cold, it might as well snow."

Living in eastern North Carolina, it doesn't get that cold for that long, and snow is an even rarer occurrence. So you can imagine how excited we were when the weather called for "an accumulation of snow" twice over the past week.

That is, until we learned what "an accumulation" meant here.

I'd like to go on the record and say that it doesn't really count if you can see dead grass and leaves poking through patches of snow. How disappointing. Of course, I was glad that we didn't lose power - it's in the 20s right now - but I wanted real snow.

Aside from that, I had a productive week. I did an inventory, worked on my story, Haven Hill, and read a brand new book coming out soon from Fabian. (It's SO good!)

I'm not going to add more food until after I move, at which point, I'd like more dried goods like beans and flour. Right now, though I don't want to lug it. I've been packing two boxes a day to get ahead of things, although I haven't selected the new apartment yet.

I'm going to be trying a bit of an experiment over the next few weeks with my new newsletter service to make sure that everyone is getting these messages.

PLEASE open these - each one will include some kind of a freebie to say thank you. If you open these and click the link to get to the freebie, I'd truly appreciate your help. I'm in the process of moving to a new service, one without any history of requiring politically correct topics. It's a massive process and I'm excited to see how this goes.

Speaking of political correctness, we're a little more than a week away from a new administration. After the election, I could already see a change. Americans were calling out nonsense, flying more flags, and openly discussing their support of incoming-President Trump. With his (mostly) excellent cabinet choices, I look forward for the first time in ages to a big change and sincerely hope the best for Mr. Trump, Mr. Vance, and all the people they're bringing with them.

I hope you have a wonderful week.

Love,
Daisy

How to Feed Your Family No Matter What [link removed]

Having something to eat isn't guaranteed.

We're facing threats to our food supply from many different angles: supply chain breakdowns, drought, food facilities being ravaged by fires, skyrocketing inflation, and outright shortages. No longer can we live in the comfort of unthreatened abundance. We're learning exactly how delicate the system really is.

Prepping and putting back supplies is incredibly important but what we're seeing now goes beyond that. You have to be able to produce and acquire more food. You have to be able to put back your harvests to eat during the winter. You have to be able to prepare items that once were as convenient as popping open a can or little plastic container.

You need a paperback copy of How to Feed Your Family No Matter What [link removed], our Organic Prepper anthology with ALL of our content about food. You'll get more than 500 pages of content that are all about food when you can't just go to the store and buy whatever you want.
