Indiana Ag Comes Together

There’s no doubt that Indiana’s farmers are the backbone of not just Indiana, but the world. Afterall, they feed us all from nearly 60,000 farms scattered throughout the state on more than 14 million cultivated acres. That’s a lot of corn, soybeans, pork, poultry, dairy, etc. ($31.2 billion toward our state’s GDP annually, to be precise).

And recently, we had the chance to bring together many heroes from Indiana’s agriculture community – our farmers, innovators, and business leaders – under one roof for a very special event. It was such an honor to join Indiana Farm Bureau President Randy Kron and his family at their farm near Evansville for a reception supporting Governor Holcomb. Randy and his family work hard every day to produce top yields, just like Governor Holcomb is working hard every day to deliver top results for Hoosiers.

And while there’s so much to celebrate with Indiana agriculture, it’s certainly been a challenging year for our Hoosier farmers. Faced with heavy rains during planting season, we’re all watching carefully to see how this year’s crops continue to develop. That’s why Governor Holcomb requested an agriculture disaster designation (mailto:[link removed]) for 88 of Indiana’s counties impacted by flooding, providing a needed lifeline to our farmers in need.

So, when you have a chance – join me in thanking our farmers and our agriculture community. They’re our backbone, they’re our heroes and they’re (literally) growing Indiana!

Indiana State Fair: The Final Week

It may be the final week of the Indiana State Fair, but the action hasn’t slowed down! Governor Holcomb had a busy day at the State Fair on Wednesday.
* First, he hosted White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) Director Jim Carroll…
* He then stopped by the Indiana Republican Party booth to meet with Hoosiers enjoying the fair…
* And then he capped off the day by attending the fair’s annual Harvest Dinner, which helps support the Indiana State Fair Foundation and its philanthropic work!

Did you have a chance to enjoy the State Fair (or are you planning to attend this weekend?)?

Indiana GOP Booth at the State Fair

If you’re planning to attend the Indiana State Fair this weekend (the LAST weekend of the fair), make sure that you stop by the Indiana Republican Party booth! We’re located between the Covered Bridge and the Free Stage, and we’ve got your connection to your Republican Party at the fair! This includes opportunities to grab a selfie with President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence’s cardboard cutouts, and sign a petition to make sure that President Trump and Governor Holcomb get on the ballot next year.

And you never know who you’ll see out at the fair booth! This week, we had stops by Governor Holcomb and Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch – great opportunities to spend time with your elected officials!
