John,

Germany’s government has fallen – an election is around the corner.

And the far-right AfD party could win. They don’t believe in climate change and want to send hundreds of thousands of refugees back to dangerous situations. Elon Musk is singing their praises. We could lose Germany as a pillar of international progress for years.

But we’ve stopped movements like this before, and we can again.

The AfD is gaining momentum by spreading lies on social media, following Trump’s playbook. But we have a proven plan to crack down on their lies – one we’ve used before in Germany, and in Brazil: a team of researchers identifying disinformation and hate speech, flagging it for the media, and pressuring Facebook and TikTok to take it down.

We have to act fast to get the plan in place. The election is in weeks and the ads are already up and going viral! Help make it happen:

In May, our researchers found 23 hateful and racist AfD ads that violated Meta’s own policies around hate speech, but got almost half a million views anyway.

We released our explosive research, capturing the attention of the media and the public, and ultimately succeeded in getting some of the posts removed. Then we submitted our evidence to the European Commission, which is investigating. But we can’t stop there.

This is a tactic we KNOW works to get the most vile, hateful ads off the internet. And now as the elections near we have to do it again and again and again. We’re ready to go, but have to raise enough to launch – can you help us get this over the finish line?

Our plan is crystal clear:

  • First, we’ll hire a stellar research team to find and expose the worst of these ads.
  • Then we’ll make a massive deal in the media, putting Meta and other platforms under fire for profiting off of hate.
  • Last, we’ll use any tactic necessary (including the courts!) to FORCE tech giants to take them down.

We know this works – and not just in Germany. In the run-up to Bolsonaro’s attempt to win another term in Brazil, we exposed a far-right network on Facebook, piling pressure on Facebook in the media and submitting evidence to the Brazil Supreme court who forced Facebook to take down some of the posts.

We’re gearing up to do the same in Germany in the weeks ahead, but we won’t be able to pull it off without your support. Can you chip in?
