As the impacts of this crisis unfold, we remain focused on how best to support those who are most vulnerable during disasters, including children, women, people with disabilities and chronic illnesses, and historically marginalized communities. Your emergency gift today helps provide both immediate and long-term support to people impacted by the California fires and ensures we can continue our global mission where the need is greatest as we stretch our resources at this critical time.
My heart breaks for the families and children suffering such tremendous loss from the historic fires in California but I also have HOPE that we can make a difference, thanks to the compassion and generosity of our community.
With gratitude,

Dear Friend,
My name is Chessa Latifi and I’m the Deputy Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response for Project HOPE. I live in Los Angeles, where I am now leading Project HOPE’s emergency response to the wildfires that continue to decimate communities and have displaced tens of thousands of people. The reality for so many children and families is devastating to witness.
I’ve faced crises and emergencies across the country and around the world, but the apocalyptic conditions unfolding here in my own community of Los Angeles are unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
Fires with little to no containment continue to burn across the region — including in heavily populated areas — forcing 180,000 people to evacuate and putting another 200,000 on alert. The immediate destruction is staggering, but the long-term impacts will be felt for years to come impacting people’s mental health, straining our health systems, and leaving thousands without a home or community to return to.

Please rush your gift today when your gift can multiply 4X in impact from public and private institutions to help save more lives here in Los Angeles and to support our global mission as we continue to deliver urgent aid where the need is greatest.
Project HOPE’s emergency response team is assessing conditions in California shelters. We are coordinating with government officials and local organizations to identify the greatest health and humanitarian needs. We’re prepared to support displaced families, marginalized populations, health care workers, and first responders.
I've seen firsthand the power of your support following devastating health and humanitarian crises. Your generosity can bring urgent aid — and HOPE — to families on the ground, in addition to people around the world. Rush your emergency donation today to make a lifesaving difference for families in need in Los Angeles and around the world.
Thank you for your continued partnership in providing urgent relief and making a lasting impact.
With gratitude,
