Winter is officially here, and snow blanketed much of Pennsylvania earlier this week.

That means heating bills are about to rise. But staying warm could get even costlier for Pennsylvania taxpayers. That’s because under the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) energy tax, which Gov. Josh Shapiro’s administration defends, energy costs could rise by as much as 30 percent.

This energy tax is unacceptable, especially as temperatures begin to drop. Shapiro needs to get Pennsylvania out of RGGI and end this energy tax

Shapiro recently filed a federal complaint over an expected price hike from the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland Interconnection (PJM), the nation’s largest power grid operator that supplies electricity to our commonwealth, plus 12 other states and the District of Columbia.

But if Shapiro truly cared about lowering consumer energy costs, he would remove Pennsylvania from RGGI and stop the program’s energy tax now. Yet, the Shapiro administration continues to defend RGGI in court.

Pennsylvanians can’t afford RGGI’s 30 percent cost increase. Shapiro needs to defend taxpayers–not radical green-energy interests.

Send a message to the governor now. Tell Shapiro to keep Pennsylvania out of RGGI!
