Democrats push to strengthen stimulus oversight in next round of coronavirus legislation

"Introduced by Sens. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., Chris Coons, D-Del., and Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn., the proposal would strengthen some of the key watchdog provisions in the original $2.3 trillion CARES Act"

Dear John --

Every single penny of taxpayer money Congress spends on COVID-19 relief should go to families, communities, and businesses in need, period.

It's unacceptable that the people who need help haven't been the first in line to get it. It's wrong that giant corporations have received federal assistance intended for small businesses. It's wrong that companies with political connections are getting access to relief first.

That's why Chris is working with Senator Elizabeth Warren to ensure the trillions of dollars Congress has invested in our economy goes to the families, communities, and businesses who need it -- not just those with the most political influence.

This new legislation would secure tougher oversight, accountability, and transparency in the federal government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. And after President Trump fired several Inspectors General -- whose job it is to audit government procedures for misconduct, abuse, and fraud -- this legislation is more important than ever.

More transparency, disclosure, and accountability are never a bad thing. This legislation will institute all of the above and prohibit corruption and conflicts of interest at the same time. You can read more about Chris and Senator Warren's legislation by clicking here:
