Economists have made a startling prediction: Social Security could run out of money within the next decade.
The math isn't too hard to follow -- millions are now unemployed and no longer paying into the program. At the same time, older Americans who may have also lost jobs are now looking to collect their benefits as soon as they can.
Now, the Depression-era program is headed for drastic insolvency -- with Democrat John Larson, chair of the House Ways and Means Social Security Subcommittee, saying, "There's going to be a real reckoning. This is going to get people's attention."
