China is Buying Texas Oil (and Representatives)
Chinese Communist-backed companies, with lobbyists in our Texas Capitol, are drilling under our feet in Tarrant County. They're not just after our land; they're buying influence in our state legislature.
If you’ve been tracking the Chinese land grab in America, you know Texas has been a battleground. Remember Sun Guangxin? The former Chinese military man and Communist Party insider who bought up 7% of Val Verde County for a "wind farm" near our military bases? That's just the tip of the iceberg.
Sun Guangxin isn't just playing with wind; his company, GHA Barnett LLC, is deep in the Barnett Shale, extracting oil right from under us in Tarrant and Dallas counties, with over 50 wells and counting!
But Sun's not alone. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has its hands in our oil pie too:
The Chinese National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), under direct CCP control, is pumping out oil in the Eagle Ford Shale. They've dropped $2 billion here in Texas, and guess what? They're also in the Gulf of Mexico! Along with GHA Barnett, they have a Houston office.
Shandong Xinchao through subsidiaries Surge Energy and Blue Whale Energy North America, has gobbled up 79,000 acres in Howard and Borden counties. More recently, they spent another $500 million to expand their control of Texas oilfields. They're not just drilling; they're lobbying in Austin with a team to make sure Texas laws bend their way. Both subsidiaries have offices in Houston.
SinoChem, another CCP puppet, has spent nearly two billion dollars in the Permian Basin to acquire over 87,000 acres. They're in bed with Pioneer Natural Resources, ensuring their lobbyists are well-placed in our state's heart.
These operations aren't just about oil; they're about control. The same CCP that's trying to control Greenland’s minerals and the Panama Canal wants a piece of Texas too.
And as our Texas legislative session kicks off this Tuesday, these companies are arming their lobbyists to fight for the CCP's interests, not ours. GHA Barnett? They've got multiple lobbyists in Austin, including Chad Cantella and Eric Knustrom. Its parent company, GH America Energy, even had lobbyist Stephen Lindsey working for it until GHA Barnett got off the ground. Pioneer Natural Resources? Lobbyists galore. Surge Energy has one of Texas' top energy lobbyists working for it.
Here's the kicker: The Houston office of CCP-owned PetroChina was fined $14 million last year for lying about oil exports. In fact, many of these Chinese companies have been in trouble for their business practices, like GHA Barnett. Even outside oil and gas, Hailiang USA (a Chinese company) was fined six figures last year at its Sealy, TX facility for unsafe practices; the building was constructed by CCP-owned China Construction America. Despite these failures, they're still here, drilling away at our sovereignty and lobbying your representatives.
This is a wake-up call. The CCP isn't just investing; they're infiltrating. They're buying up our land, our resources, and now our legislature.
Don't let this stand. We need to act now. Tell your representative to end Chinese land ownership in Texas and to stop being wined and dined by CCP lobbyists. Demand transparency, demand protection of our state, and demand that Texas remains American, not a CCP playground.
The session starts Tuesday - let's make our voices heard!
