The Washington Post reports that the White House has blocked Dr. Fauci from testifying before a House subcommittee investigating the administration’s pandemic response, saying his appearance would be “counterproductive.”
It makes sense for him to be there: national polling shows Americans view Dr. Fauci, America’s top infectious disease expert, as the official they trust the most to share advice on COVID-19 -- with Fauci beating out both Pence and Trump.
But Trump, notoriously the jealous type, has chosen to remove Dr. Fauci from news briefings. He announced a major decision to cut off support for the WHO with Dr. Fauci nowhere in sight, and he retweeted a hashtag that called for Fauci’s firing.
