A Message from Gabe:
Greetings Rhode Islanders,
Last week marked the start of the 119th Congress. I’m honored to continue working for Rhode Islanders in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Congressman Amo receives his 119th Congress member pin and voting card on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.
As you know, Congress has a long to-do list this year. I'm ready to roll up my sleeves and continue working to lower costs and expand opportunity for families across our district. This includes protecting Social Security and Medicare, preventing tax giveaways for the wealthy and well-connected, and boosting our economy by investing in Rhode Island’s small businesses.

To do this work effectively, I need to hear from you at home!
To share your thoughts, please reach out anytime to my district office at (401) 729-5600 or to my D.C. office at (202) 225-4911. We are here to help and listen. Together, I’m confident we’ll make progress to strengthen our communities, our state, and our country. Let’s get to work!
Sincerely, |

Last month, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) successfully returned $5,220,735 to 11,288 Rhode Islanders who were exploited by illegal junk fees in a major credit repair scam. In Congress, I will continue to support the CFPB's critical work to hold companies accountable when they take advantage of customers.

INVITATION: Senior Fraud Prevention Roundtable
Congressman Amo speaking with a constituent on how we protect and provide exceptional care to our seniors.
Please join my Senior Fraud Roundtable at the Middletown Senior Center (670 Green End Ave, Middletown, RI 02842) on Friday, January 17 at 11:15 am. The conversation will feature local experts discussing strategies to prevent senior fraud.
In 2023, older adults reported losing more than $1.9 billion to fraud with some estimates reaching as high as $61.5 billion. In fact, Rhode Island experienced the third largest increase in senior fraud from 2022 to 2023. That is why I sent a letter to Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan urging assistance in tackling the growing issue of fraud and scams targeting seniors in Rhode Island and across the country.
This discussion will be an opportunity to learn about the latest tactics used by fraudsters, discover effective methods to safeguard our seniors against fraud, and understand the resources available to report and recover from fraud.
Expected remarks from:
- Congressman Gabe Amo
- Samuel Levine – Director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection
- Alex Carnevale – Special Assistant Attorney General in the Consumer and Economic Justice Unit within the Public Protection Bureau of the Civil Division, Office of the Rhode Island Attorney General
- Catherine Taylor – Director, Rhode Island AARP
- Captain Pete Chabot and Lieutenant Richard Ptaszek – Rhode Island State Police
- Erine Lewis – Head of Risk Management, People’s Credit Union
