Lt. Governor Jon Husted and Second Lady Tina Husted met with leadership from Heartbeat International, which has one of the largest networks of pregnancy help centers in the world.

Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and First Lady Fran DeWine attended the investiture ceremony for Justice Joseph T. Deters held at the Ohio Supreme Court. Justice Deters was elected to the Ohio Supreme Court in November 2024 to a six-year team. He joined the bench in 2023 after being appointed by Governor DeWine.

Lt. Governor Husted spoke about how the state is preparing the workforce for jobs of the future so 'Made in Ohio' continues to be a main part of 'Made in America' at the Advanced Manufacturing Industry Partnerships' Quarterly Meeting in Cincinnati.

In honor of the life and service of former State Senator Ben Espy, Ohio Governor Mike DeWine ordered [ [link removed] ] that the flags of the United States and the state of Ohio to be flown at half-staff upon all public buildings and grounds throughout Franklin County and at the Ohio Statehouse, Vern Riffe Center, and Rhodes Tower from sunrise to sunset on the day of his funeral, January 13, 2025.

The Ohio Department of Development announced [ [link removed] ] the availability of $6 million in grant funding dedicated to advancing innovation in coal technologies, fostering economic growth, job creation, and energy sustainability across the state.
The funding is available through the Ohio Coal Research and Development Program [ [link removed] ], which supports projects aimed at modernizing the use of Ohio coal through innovative technologies and processes such as rare earth element extractions for manufacturing, alternate uses for coal waste, and even the conversion of coal into high-quality materials for housing construction.
“One of our greatest strengths as a state is our ability to adapt and innovate,” said Governor DeWine. “Ohio’s research community has proven time and again that it can drive growth in energy production and sustainability. This funding builds on their efforts and ensures that we remain leaders in coal technology."

Lt. Governor Husted traveled to Cincinnati to visit with leadership and tour General Tool Company (GTC). GTC plays a vital role in the aerospace and defense industry, supplying major contractors such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, General Electric Aerospace, Rolls Royce Naval Marine and Electric Boat.

Governor DeWine spoke at the 2025 Ohio Auctioneers Annual Conference held at the Hilton Easton in Columbus.

Keith Washburn [ [link removed] ]
Governor DeWine announced the appointment of Keith Washburn to the Chillicothe Municipal Court.
Washburn, of Chillicothe, will assume office on February 3, 2025, and will be taking the seat formerly held by Judge Toni Eddy, who retired. He will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2025 to retain the seat.

Governor DeWine announced the appointment of Curt Werren to the Stark County Court of Common Pleas, Probate Division.
Werren, of North Canton, will assume office on February 21, 2025, and will be taking the seat held by Judge Dixie Park, who retired. He will serve the remainder of the unfinished term and will need to run for election in November 2026 to retain the seat.

Governor DeWine hosts ribbon-cutting ceremony at new I-71 rest area in Fayette County, the first of 29 rest areas across the state set to receive a universal changing station.
Governor DeWine, Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) Director Kim Hauck, and Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) Director Pamela Boratyn unveiled [ [link removed] ] the first of 29 planned universal changing stations at Ohio rest areas.
Located at the newly redesigned I-71 rest areas in Jeffersonville, the universal changing stations are part of a family restroom, and include an adjustable table in a clean, safe, and private area. The tables are available to people regardless of height, weight, or mobility level, and are often used by people who assist individuals with disabilities and medical conditions.
“Our hope is that these universal changing stations and others we will be installing across the state will encourage new possibilities for people with disabilities, their families, and caregivers as they travel Ohio,” said Governor DeWine. “By adding this valuable resource to more of our rest areas, we are increasing inclusion and accessibility for everyone to be able to fully experience all that Ohio has to offer.”
