Congressman Randy Feenstra Read More AFTER MY REPEATED REQUESTS, THE ROCK VALLEY POST OFFICE IS OFFICIALLY REOPENED! This past summer’s devastating floods hit Rock Valley particularly hard, leaving homes, schools, businesses, and other structures damaged and destroyed. While our neighbors worked quickly to get back to some semblance of normalcy, the post office was needlessly lagging behind. Iowans depend on the post office to pay their bills, get their medications, and send their mail in a timely manner, and the extended closure of the Rock Valley Post Office denied them of these services. I’m glad that – following repeated requests and a trip in December to see the post office myself – the post office is fully reopened, and my constituents can visit in person – as it should be. Rock Valley Post Office To Re-Open - KIWA Radio Rock Valley, Iowa - After several months of alternative situations for the Rock Valley Post Office due to this past summer's flooding, it has been announced that the facility is [...] Read More PRESIDENT TRUMP'S ELECTION VICTORY OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED BY CONGRESS! On November 5th, President Trump was elected as our nation’s 47th President with the support of more than 77 million Americans. His vision of secure borders, economic prosperity, energy dominance, and global security resonated with Iowans and Americans everywhere. On Monday, President Trump’s victory was officially certified so that we can immediately get to work advancing our America First agenda. With Republican control of Congress and President Trump in the White House, we will secure our border, cut wasteful spending, reauthorize the Trump Tax Cuts, stand up to China, and support our hardworking farmers and producers. RECOGNIZING NATIONAL LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY On Thursday, we recognized National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day. We are all so grateful for the men and women who put their lives on the line to keep our families safe. Thank you to our police and law enforcement officers for selflessly serving our communities! FARM BILL BREAKDOWN SERIES PART V: THE RURAL BROADBAND MODERNIZATION ACT For the 5th video in our Farm Bill Breakdown series, we’re covering my Rural Broadband Modernization Act. This legislation will deliver 100 megabits per second for both upload and download speeds, which is the gold stand for broadband connection. Rural Iowa deserves high-speed internet! LEGISLATION THAT I LED TO SUPPORT STRONG FAMILIES SIGNED INTO LAW Last week, legislation I led to help keep children out of the foster care system and with their families was signed into law as part of Rep. Darin LaHood's (R-IL-16) Supporting America’s Children AND Families Act. This reform will help keep children out of our already overwhelmed foster care system. WORKING TO STOP CALIFORNIA'S ELECTRIC-VEHICLE MANDATES FROM SPREADING NATIONWIDE Last month, the Biden administration cleared the way for California to impose EV mandates on its citizens. This egregious government overreach will prove very costly. That's why I'm working to prevent California's EV agenda from spreading nationwide. Feenstra: We don't need EV mandates President Joe Biden's Environmental Protection Agency recently delivered yet another blow to the American auto industry and affordability for our families. Since 2023, I've made more than 50 stops, held several town halls, and even hosted the House Committee on Agriculture Chairman – Rep. G.T. Thompson (R-PA-15) – at the Farm Progress Show! I look forward to continuing to learn from the farmers who do it best! DELIVERING ON THE PEOPLE'S MANDATE The American people delivered a mandate by electing President Trump and Republican majorities to Congress. Like me, our families want secure borders, safe communities, and a strong economy. It is now our responsibility to get our country back on track. Delivering a conservative agenda for America On Nov. 5, 2024, the American people delivered a mandate for our government by electing President Trump and Republican majorities to Congress. Like me, our families and neighbors want secure borders, safe communities, a strong economy, and an affordable cost of living. It is now our responsibility to honor the will of the voters and [...] Read More ADVANCING STRONG PRO-GROWTH TAX POLICIES THAT BENEFIT IOWA ON THE WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE Last August, I had the pleasure of welcoming House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith and my colleagues to the Iowa State Fair for a great hearing on tax policy. Together, we will work with President Trump to reauthorize the Trump Tax Cuts, fight inflation, and rebuild our economy! WORKING TO FULLY FUND THE RUNWAY AND RAMP PROJECTS AT THE 185TH AIR REFUELING WING IN SIOUX CITY In October, my biannual 36 County Tour took me to the 185th Air Refueling Wing (ARW) in Sioux City to meet with members of the Iowa Air National Guard and receive an update on ongoing military construction projects at the base. While I’ve been fortunate to tour the 185th on several occasions, this visit was especially memorable. I had the opportunity to fly in a KC-135 Stratotanker and participate in a refueling mission with F-16 fighter jets from the South Dakota Air National Guard. In my conversations with military and community leaders, the top priority for the 185th – including Major General Stephen Osborn who serves as the Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard – is the replacement of the current runway and the construction of an aircraft parking ramp. That’s why, like I’ve done in years past, I recently led my colleagues in the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota delegations in sending a letter to the Acting Director of the Air National Guard, Major General Duke Pirak, and Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin requesting that ongoing runway and ramp projects at the 185th be included in the Future Years Defense Program (FYDP) for Fiscal Year 2026. Read my full op-ed in the Sioux City Journal below! FEENSTRA: Complete airport projects for 185th Refueling Wing FEENSTRA: In my conversations with military and community leaders, the top priority for the 185th... is the replacement of the current runway at Sioux Gateway Airport and the construction of an aircraft parking ramp. These two projects will help the 185th continue to fulfill its mission. Read More ONE LAST THING: IRS FREE FILE SERVICES With tax season right around the corner, it is important to review the resources that may be available to you for the filing process. Read this message from the IRS below: "Entering its 23rd filing season, IRS Free File is just one of many free options available to taxpayers for filing their tax returns, whether online or in person. This service is made possible through a public-private partnership between the IRS and Free File Inc. (formerly the Free File Alliance). As part of this partnership, tax preparation and filing software partners offer their online products to eligible taxpayers for free. To access these free tools, taxpayers must start from the IRS Free File page on IRS.gov. This year, eight private-sector partners will provide online guided tax software products for taxpayers with an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $84,000 or less in 2024. Additionally, one partner will offer a product in Spanish. Although the IRS official tax filing season begins later this month, IRS Free File providers will allow taxpayers to prepare and file returns now and hold them until they can be electronically filed on that date. Many other software companies offer a similar option. Taxpayers with an AGI above $84,000 can use the Free File Fillable Forms (FFFF) starting January 27. These electronic versions of IRS paper forms are ideal for individuals who are comfortable preparing their own taxes using IRS instructions and publications." Here are some steps to find the right IRS Free File product: "Taxpayers are responsible for determining their eligibility for a free federal tax return from the list of trusted partners. 1. Go to IRS.gov/freefile, 2. Click on Explore Free Guided Tax Software button. Then select the Find a Trusted Partner tool for help in finding the right product, or 3. Use the Browse All Trusted Partners tool to review each offer, 4. Select the desired product, and 5. Follow the links to the trusted partner's website to begin their tax return. No computer? No problem. IRS Free File products support mobile phone access. Taxpayers can do their taxes on their smart phone or tablet." We are government together. If you have any questions about the changes being made, please contact my office at Feenstra.House.Gov or by phone at 202-225-4426. MY WEEKLY COLUMN: REAUTHORIZING AND BUILDING UPON THE SUCCESSES OF THE TAX CUTS AND JOBS ACT At the end of this year, significant portions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), which was signed into law in December of 2017, officially expires. That means that – absent congressional action – taxes for Iowa families, farmers, and businesses will increase. As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, I will be working closely with President Trump, Chairman Jason Smith, and my colleagues to reauthorize the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, build upon the major successes of this law, and prevent massive tax hikes on Iowans and Americans everywhere.
