A lot of folks have been wondering what’s next for our movement. How do we gather our strength and push on after Trump’s inauguration?
This is it: In April, Wisconsin faces a Supreme Court election that will decide the future of our state — and whether right wing extremists will take back the Court and undo all the progress we’ve made.
I can’t stress enough how important this seat is. The Wisconsin Supreme Court will decide on everything from abortion rights, to voting access, to redistricting, and more.
If conservatives take back the majority, they could strike down our new fair maps, reinstate the ban on collective bargaining for workers, and completely wind back the clock on the important progress we’ve made in the last few years.
And with the GOP’s increasingly anti-democratic, authoritarian rhetoric and policies, a loss here could mean locking Democrats out of electoral victory in Wisconsin for a long time.
So, the election is in April, which in politics is not a lot of time at all. We have about three months to shake off the dust from last November, dive into this important election, and deliver a victory for Judge Susan Crawford. The future of my home, the great state of Wisconsin, is worth fighting for.
