Monday

Linda McMahon, the former Small Business Association Administrator and longtime friend of Winning For Women, met with Republican women in the Senate to discuss her nomination to be the next U.S. Secretary of Education.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), and Katie Britt (R-AL) all praised McMahon after their meetings and encouraged their colleagues to support her nomination.

Tuesday

Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) made history by becoming the youngest woman to ever preside over the United States Senate.

In a video she shared before entering the chamber, Britt said, "It's not lost on me how many people and women did things all across this country, on both sides of the aisle, to make this reality. I hope this moment inspires other young women and other people across the nation that they can do big things as well."

Wednesday

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) closed out the 118th Congress last week without missing a single vote, which extended her nearly three decade perfect voting streak that began when she first took office in 1997. Collins' streak now stands at 9,194 consecutive roll-call votes, the second longest in Senate history.

Collins told The Maine Wire, "No one works harder than the people of Maine, and I have always sought to reflect that dedication by showing up to ensure our state is represented in the Senate for every single vote."

Thursday

Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) notched an impressive legislative victory when the Senate voted by a margin of 84 to 9 to advance the Laken Riley Act, legislation she authored requiring the detention of any illegal immigrant charged with theft or burglary.

Despite Senate Democrats blocking the bill last year, Britt was able to secure significant bipartisan support after recruiting Democrat Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) as a co-sponsor earlier in the week. The legislation still has procedural hurdles to clear before it gets final passage.
