TOPEKA* – Governor Laura Kelly and the National Association of State Chief Administrators (NASCA) on Friday announced Secretary Adam Proffitt will serve as the 2025 NASCA president. Secretary Proffitt, who leads the Kansas Department of Administration and Kansas Division of the Budget, previously served as the treasurer of NASCA.
“I’m proud to have Secretary Proffitt serve in this important role,” *Governor Laura Kelly said*. “His knowledge and experience will be an asset to NASCA as it continues to provide invaluable resources to states across the country."
Governor Kelly appointed Secretary Proffitt as Secretary of Administration on Jan. 2, 2023. Secretary Proffitt also serves as the Director of the Budget, a role that he has held since December 2020. As budget director, he serves as the chief financial advisor to the Governor and works to construct a budget that is both sustainable for the State of Kansas and reflects the governor’s policy priorities. Prior to his appointment as budget director, Secretary Proffitt also served as the Medicaid director for the state of Kansas, where he was the top administrator of the state’s $3.8 billion Medicaid program.
"The work of NASCA is more important now than ever, bringing together state chief administrators from across the nation to learn from each other and share best practices,” *said Secretary Adam Proffitt, Kansas Department of Administration and 2025 NASCA President.* “I look forward to serving and share my gratitude for 2024 NASCA President Commissioner Holwerda for leaving NASCA strong and ready for the future."
Secretary Proffitt is following the leadership of 2024 NASCA president, Commissioner Rebecca Holwerda.
"Commissioner Holwerda led a historic year for NASCA, bringing the organization's administration in-house, creating savings of over 25% of the annual budget, and increasing the focus on member engagement,” *said Elizabeth Whitehouse, executive director of **NASCA.* “I am thankful to have had the opportunity to serve under her leadership. The future of NASCA is bright thanks to Commissioner Holwerda and Secretary Proffitt."
"It has been a joy to serve this organization and collaborate with my colleagues around the country who are positively transforming government operations,” *said* *Commissioner Rebecca Holwerda, 2024 NASCA president.* “It is a privilege to hand the baton to Secretary Proffitt to further the success of the organization.”
