Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, and the United Nations all agree: Israel is committing genocide in Gaza.

Anyone with eyes, ears, and a moral compass should be appalled by our government’s support for these crimes against humanity which so far have killed at least 43,204 people and injured at least 101,641 more.

But one person who isn’t appalled is Secretary of State Tony Blinken. In fact, he doesn’t even believe that a genocide is happening in Gaza. Last week he told The New York Times that there’s no genocide in Gaza and that he has no regrets about his time as Secretary of State.

But experts at the United Nations, the International Criminal Court, and multiple preeminent human rights advocacy groups agree that the death and destruction Israel has inflicted on Gaza constitutes genocide.

Everyone who has the power to speak out against this needs to, whether they’re a member of Congress or the Secretary of State. Tony Blinken is losing his job on January 20 no matter what, but the other people who deny genocide deserve to lose their jobs too.

The Congressional Progressive Caucus – the most left-leaning faction of House Democrats – has 55 members who have voted to send weapons to Israel since the genocide began. Even worse, despite representing very blue districts and claiming to be progressive, 28 of these members have taken millions of dollars from the far-right pro-genocide group AIPAC.

Defund Apartheid Action’s most important goal is exerting pressure on these fake progressives in Congress so that they end their support for Israel’s genocide in Gaza.
