Dear Friend,

With the 119th Congress officially underway, I wanted to take a moment to provide a brief update on the legislation that passed the House of Representatives this week.

Certified President Trump's Historic Win:

As our first order of business this week, Congress certified President Trump's historic election. In just a little under two weeks, Congress will work with President Trump to deliver on his agenda to the American people. This includes passing legislation that will make America healthy, safe, and great again.

H.R. 29: Laken Riley Act - PASSED

Under the Biden Administration, millions of illegal immigrants, many of whom committed violent criminal acts, entered the United States. One victim of Biden's failed border policies was Laken Riley, a nursing student from Athens, GA who was murdered by an illegal immigrant with multiple violations on his record. Other victims include my constituents, Rachel Morin and Kayla Hamilton, both of whom were also murdered by illegal immigrants with previous criminal records.

The Laken Riley Act protects American communities from criminal illegal aliens by requiring Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to issue detainers and take custody of aliens who are convicted or charged with burglary, theft, and larceny as well those who admit to committing those crimes. The Laken Riley Act also allows a state to sue the Federal government on behalf of their citizens for not enforcing the border laws, particularly in the case of parole.

H.R. 23: Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act - PASSED

House Republicans stand firmly with our ally, Israel, and support Israel’s right to defend itself.  This legislation supports Israel in their fight against Hamas and protects American sovereignty by requiring the President to impose sanctions against International Criminal Court (ICC) officials who investigate, arrest, detain, or prosecute a U.S. person or our allies. Additionally, it ensures no current or future federal funding flows to the illegitimate ICC.

District Updates

Visiting the Maryland General Assembly:

Wednesday marked the beginning of the first session for the Maryland General Assembly. I visited Annapolis to welcome back many of the Delegates and Senators from my district as they prepare to tackle important issues in our state.

I look forward to watching our Republican representation in the General Assembly as they fight to cut reckless spending, reduce crime, and pass legislation that improves the lives for all those who call Maryland home.

Francis Scott Key Bridge Update:

This week, the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) announced a $75 million General Engineering Consultant services contract which was approved by the Maryland Board of Public Works (BPW) in support of the Key Bridge Rebuild Project. This announcement comes as the MDTA begins pre-construction activities and launches a communications strategy providing transparent updates throughout the project.

We will continue to provide updates pertaining to pre-construction and future planning of the Francis Scott Key Bridge.

Law Enforcement Appreciation Day:

As a strong proponent of backing our brave men and women in Law Enforcement, I want to highlight Law Enforcement Appreciation Day which occurred on January 9 of this year.  As your representative in Washington, rest assured I will continue to advocate for law and order and support our police officers as they protect our communities.

In The News

Federal Court Strikes Down Biden's Attempt to Rewrite Title IX:

The Biden administration’s attempt to radically rewrite Title IX to allow men in women’s sports and locker rooms, has been struck down nationwide by a federal court. As I have long said, it is both evidence-based and obvious to anyone with common sense, that clear physiological differences exist between the performance of biological men and women in sports. Only woke politics would allow students to compete based on their stated gender identity rather than their biological sex. This is a major WIN for both common sense and the rights of women and girls.
