In just one month, voters in New York’s First District will vote to decide which Democratic candidate will go up against Lee Zeldin in November.

We’ve come a long way on this campaign, and I am proud of the work we’ve done to get us to this point. With two TV ads running on broadcast and cable, direct mail pieces dropping into mailboxes across the district, and our field team reaching tens of thousands of voters per week, we’re out-communicating our opponents, thanks to the more than 5,000 people who have pitched in to support our campaign.

No other campaign is running a paid-communications strategy as far reaching as ours. We made this critical investment to boost my name ID because we know we're up against a challenger who's run for this seat before. And the most recent data show that elevating our pro-science message and sharing my background as a scientist is the key to unseating a climate-denying, anti-science, far-right Trump ally.

We’re on the path to victory in NY-01, and I greatly appreciate the support you have given me and my team. But the fact is, beating Zeldin this fall begins by nominating the strongest candidate to take him on.

Now more than ever, we’re seeing that we need scientists as elected leaders, not just advisors. In Congress, there is just one representative with a Ph.D. in science, but we can change that. When we win, I’ll be the first female Ph.D. scientist ever to serve in Congress.

The next four weeks will be a race to the finish line -- especially with voters actively mailing in their ballots. But I am confident that, with our incredible network of supporters, we will win the primary, defeat Zeldin and flip this seat red to blue.
