A message from Council Leader, Councillor Neghat Khan

We’re nearing the end of a four-week public consultation on the Council’s budget for next year.

The consultation has included a series of engagement events to provide local people, businesses and partner organisations the opportunity to give feedback on a range of initial proposals.

There is also an online survey that can be found here [ [link removed] ] here [ [link removed] ]along with details of the budget proposals. Information is also available at local city libraries, including hard copies of the budget survey form.

*The survey will be open until Monday 13 January so there’s still time to have your say.*

This budget is about getting our house in order and moving the Council to a financially sustainable position. Nottingham deserves a council that delivers good local services and sets an ambitious vision for a city where people want to live, work and study. In getting this budget right, we will focus on delivering just that.

The demand for vital services in Nottingham has never been greater. Increasing demand and shrinking budgets has left councils across the country facing huge financial pressures and Nottingham is no different.

We must become a renewed council and get our house in order so we can refocus on delivering for local people, empowering our communities, tackling climate change, providing safe and affordable housing, enhancing education and skills and working with partners across our city to put Nottingham first.

We think by allocating our resources more efficiently and with a renewed focus on delivering positive outcomes, we can meet the needs of local people more effectively and for better value to the taxpayer.

Our gritter drivers are working hard round the clock

It’s a cold one this week! 

Thank you to our hard working gritter drivers who are out all hours at the moment.

Our gritters are out nightly across the 227miles of Nottingham roads we grit each wintery night [ [link removed] ], but due to very low temperatures and wintery showers, icy stretches can persist.

Additional gritting runs are taking place but we ask you to take extra care, only travel if your journey is essential and leave more time for your journey than usual.

Queens Drive Park & Ride out of action due to flooding

Rising levels of the nearby River Trent have caused flooding at a park & ride site on Queens Drive. While water levels are expected to begin to drop soon, water can sometimes take a while to recede and staff will then need to check infrastructure on site and carry out any repairs.

CT4N’s Medilink service continues to run whenever Queens Drive is closed, operating between the Queen’s Medical Centre and City Hospital, via Wilkinson Street. More information, including a timetable, can be found here [ [link removed] ].

Nottingham City Council will provide further updates as they're available and would remind drivers that an alternative option is available at Nottingham Racecourse near Colwick Park, as well as tram park-and-rides at Clifton, Toton Lane, The Forest, Hucknall, Moor Bridge, Phoenix Park and Wilkinson Street.
