Patriot,

If you've ever felt like the IRS is breathing down your neck, you're not alone.

Small business owners, gig workers, and everyday taxpayers are facing unprecedented scrutiny from the IRS, thanks to its growing reach and invasive tactics.

Unfortunately, this subject won't be in the news much, but I promise you it will have a big impact in the future if we do not get the IRS back under control.

But there's good news: The National Taxpayers Union (NTU) is fighting back on your behalf.

I am Pete Sepp, President of the National Taxpayers Union. NTU is the “Taxpayers' Lobbyist.” We fight to ensure that all Americans are able to pursue their dreams without the heavy hand of the government holding them back.

NTU is protecting small businesses from IRS abuse, but we can't do this alone. Will you chip in $10, $35, or even $100 today to support our efforts?

Here are just a few of the victories the National Taxpayers Union achieved in its campaign to reform the IRS.

Pushing Back on IRS Overreach

In another major win, NTU was instrumental in stopping the IRS from expanding its bank reporting requirements. This would have forced banks to share details of millions of Americans' personal financial transactions just for moving their own money around.

NTU rallied taxpayers, worked with policymakers, and helped to halt this invasion of privacy in its tracks.

In another instance, the IRS tried to cancel a hearing on its own rulemaking that would have weakened protections for taxpayers seeking to appeal an audit finding.

Because we said we wanted to testify - we forced the IRS to hold the hearing. Now, we are putting our efforts on this and other taxpayer rights matters to Members of Congress to strengthen these protections.

Defending Small Businesses

Just this year, NTU helped expose the IRS's overreach on issues like micro-captive insurance, a critical tool for small businesses to manage their risk. The IRS wanted to treat these legitimate strategies as tax evasion schemes, targeting business owners across the country.

But thanks to NTU's relentless advocacy, we've shined a light on this aggressive IRS behavior, and now Congress is hearing from entrepreneurs like you, demanding action.

Protecting You from Tax Hikes

Let's not forget the battle we waged when Congress was considering massive tax hikes to fund reckless spending. NTU stood firm, advocating for taxpayers in every corner of the country.

Our efforts resulted in billions of dollars in planned tax hikes being stripped from the final budget. That's money saved for you and your family. We've even succeeded in paring back the excessive $80 billion in extra funding the IRS was given in 2022.

But we can't rest on these wins. The IRS continues to seek more authority, and the fight is far from over. We need your help to keep the IRS in check and protect small business owners and other taxpayers from being unfairly targeted.

The  National Taxpayers Union is the longest-serving organization in America fighting for taxpayers. Our mission is to achieve favorable, pro-taxpayer policy outcomes using the most effective team on Capitol Hill and in the states.

And when the IRS attempts to make easy targets out of small businesses and individual households, we're there to push back in the courts and in Congress.

The National Taxpayers Union is working for a tax system that Americans can respect rather than fear.

With your support, NTU will continue to stand up to the IRS when it's acting out of bounds, push back on burdensome regulations, and make sure your hard-earned dollars stay in your pocket - not the government's.
